Kyla – Color Toning Exercises…

Had the pleasure of inviting a model friend down to help me out with my workshops… and while she’s here, we also did some shots just to catch up… Had the idea (ever since the last session with magdalene – see previous post) to try out more color toning in Photoshop… so here’s some results from the shoot! Hope you guys like it…

Invited Magdalene down to help me out with my workshops… and had some time to spare, so I gave my 2 modeling lamps some working out and shot pretty wide open at 2.0 on my 85 1.2…. Here’s some photographs from the session

A very special couple….

One, a friend and model I’ve been working with for 2 years… the other, a fine gentlemen i’ve only met for the 2nd time proper

Yet that’s about to change…and I certainly intend to keep these two as friends for a long time…

There’s so much chemistry between them both that I felt it hard not to think of one when I see the other.. It’s an exceptional example of two lovers being close in many more ways than one.

Truly a joy to photograph and a pleasure to have work with…

By the end of the shoot, I concluded that Malcolm’s a natural mood model (perhaps rubbed off from his girlfriend)… and I hope that afternoon in the studio gave them both an additional reason to love each other more…

Bringing back the fond old colors

Was recently quite inspired by old days… (where everything’s a little more muted)… and yeah … TVs aren’t quite so vivid… Reds look more like plum, Greens look more like a moulting grasshopper and Blues look more like tainted brackish swamp water…

So…. been dabbling around in Photoshop again trying to recreate what i thought looked like THE OLD DAYS…. I admit… i’m barely 30 yet… so the 20s , 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s are pretty much unknown to me in terms of practical hands-on living… sooo we’ll just let my imagination run…

Rabbit Revisited

Was watching a DVD on the making of Vogue 2009 September Issue… and was suddenly inspired to do a 20′s style shoot….

Went through my whole backlog and found nothing close… then I saw RABBIT….

Probably the closest friend to a very good model friend of mine, I thought it’s about time I focused more on what others cared about… so it’s here… that marks the beginning of my new inspired shoot (which i’ll begin to work on once I find myself suitable models to pull it off)

Adv. Portrait Workshop – 9th & 11th July 2010

It’s been a fruitful weekend (for me at least)…

Really happy that my 5th revision of the portrait program ran really smoothly… for a while, I was pretty unsure if it would actually be a mad rush because of the increased number of pax shooting on rotation… but it turned out just about as good as I could have asked for… Of course, due credits to my assisting model Christine (here’s a blog on her) and some wonderful new friends that attended the workshop..

From Left to Right, we have Venugopal Tharmalingam (very reserved gentlemen), Tanweer Khan (pronounced ‘Han’, a very charismatic face indeed), Christine Tan (our very competant assisting model for the day, the very enthusiastic Hansel Tan (who also coaches photography) and a very sincere Mr David Griffiths (who really inspired me to get ipads for my kids if i ever have one)….

It’s always great to meet new people and even more so when there’s a common interest to gel our very different lives together. I’ve taken away a lot more that day…. Good job guys!

It is rather unfortunate that I’ve missed the company of Faizlyana who couldn’t make it for the practical session… but here’s a word of thanks for turning up on friday and I hope everyone took something away from both session

Reiee Invitation

I first met this young lady when shooting the 100 Headshots back in 2008… (here’s the Link to have a look – have a fun time searching! ) and after 2 years, came to look her up again to see if she would fit into my workshop programs… and I was very, very much impressed… Here’s some casual tests from the day, while nothing fancy, it shows off a great deal of confidence barely an hour into meeting her again.
