Turkish Street Cats
Türkiye . 2022
Sometimes the photographs we never planned become the ones we remember most.
This final post from my 2022 journey through Türkiye is dedicated to some of its most unexpected residents. Having first visited the country in 2008, I was surprised by just how many street cats and dogs I encountered this time. They seemed to be everywhere—sleeping beside petrol stations, waiting patiently outside restaurants, wandering through ancient streets and even turning historic landmarks into their own playgrounds. One adventurous kitten somehow found its way to the doorstep of my hotel room.
Animals have always held a special place in my heart, so it wasn't long before they became an unexpected photography project of their own. Looking back at these photographs, I'm reminded that every destination has stories beyond the guidebooks. Sometimes they're found not in the monuments we travel thousands of miles to see, but in the small, familiar lives quietly unfolding around them.
I hope some of my photographs have inspired you to visit or pick up your cameras.
It would mean a lot to me if you appreciate my work so leave a comment to say hello!
Thanks for checking out my photographs! - Ejun Low
