BEAUTIFUL IS EXPECTED
PERSONAL PORTRAITSPERSONAL PORTRAITSBEAUTIFUL IS ONLY THE BEGINNING.
A beautiful portrait is something I believe every guest should expect. But beauty alone has never been enough. A portrait can hold something more enduring: the way we carry ourselves, the character we have grown into, and a sense of who we are at this particular point in our lives. The aim isn't to create somebody different in front of the camera. It is to recognise what is already there, refine what doesn't need to compete for attention, and make a portrait that feels unmistakably yours.
I PHOTOGRAPH INDIVIDUALSTHE PERSON
YOU’VE BECOME
Every portrait begins with an individual. Not a pose, an expression or an idea of who somebody ought to be, but the person already standing in front of me. Some come to mark a transition, others simply because it feels like the right time. Whatever the reason, I believe a personal portrait should feel recognisable long after it is made. Beautiful, certainly, but also honest to the character, presence and life that have brought you to this particular moment.
I PHOTOGRAPH COUPLES & FAMILIESTHE PEOPLE YOU’VE
SHARED A LIFE WITH.
The people closest to us are often the ones whose presence we take most for granted. Partners, parents, children and families change gradually, until one day we realise how much time has passed. A portrait cannot hold on to a moment forever, but it can give that moment somewhere to remain. I believe photographs made together should feel less like a record of how everyone looked, and more like a reminder of what it felt like to belong to one another.

GETTING TO KNOW YOU
Before a portrait is made, I want to understand a little about the person I'm photographing. Why now, what matters to you, and what would make the photographs feel like your own? From there, we consider clothing, grooming, styling and the different ways you might want to be photographed. You don't need to arrive knowing how to pose or what to do in front of the camera. That's my responsibility. Yours is simply to arrive as yourself, and we'll work out the rest together.
THE PORTRAIT EXPERIENCEYOU DON’T NEED TO KNOW
HOW TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED
Most people I photograph aren't accustomed to being in front of a camera, and I don't expect them to be. Throughout the session, I'll guide you through where to stand, how to position yourself and what to do with your hands, while paying attention to the smaller details that make a portrait feel natural. Nothing needs to be practised beforehand. You don't need to know your best angle or prepare a pose. That's part of what you're coming to me for.

“Pick Ejun if you appreciate the craft, cinematic style, and photos which capture a natural side of you made. Set in a beautiful studio, I felt like a princess for a day getting dolled up and eased into poses.
I am terrible at posing but Ejun made it really easy! Some of the candid shots in between conversations turned out to be my favourites. Thanks Ejun for bringing out a more beautiful side of me.”

Ejun is an absolute gem!”
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONSBEFORE WE WORK TOGETHER.

A personal portrait session is photography commissioned for yourself rather than by an organisation. Some guests come to mark a particular stage in life, while others simply feel it is time to have a portrait they genuinely value. Sessions can be created for individuals, couples or families, with the photography shaped around the people involved rather than a predetermined style or set of poses.
-
Not at all. Most of the people I photograph are not accustomed to being professionally photographed. Throughout the session, I will guide you through where to stand, how to position your body, what to do with your hands and where to look. You don't need to practise poses or know your best angle beforehand. Guiding you through the photograph is part of my responsibility as your portrait photographer.

Bring clothing that fits well and feels recognisable as yours. I generally recommend bringing several options so we can consider them together before we begin, from more formal pieces to something relaxed. Neutral colours, good fit and simple layers tend to photograph particularly well, but there is no required wardrobe. We will choose what works according to you and the portraits we are creating.
-
Professional hair and makeup can be arranged if you would like it, but it is entirely optional. Some guests prefer professional grooming while others want to arrive looking much as they normally do. Either approach can create a beautiful portrait. If makeup is arranged, the direction is considered around the individual rather than transforming you into someone you would not ordinarily recognise.
-
Yes. Personal portrait sessions can include couples and families as well as individual portraits. We can create photographs together and, where appropriate, portraits of each person individually during the same experience. Let us know who you would like to bring when enquiring so we can recommend the appropriate session and plan the photography around everyone involved.
-
Most personal portrait sessions are created at my studio in Singapore, where we have control over lighting, backgrounds and the overall environment. Depending on what you have in mind, portraits can also be considered in another suitable location. We can discuss this before the session and decide which setting best supports the kind of photographs you would like to create.
-
Personal portrait sessions are based on the photography experience and the portraits you ultimately choose. Rather than requiring you to decide exactly what you need before being photographed, we can first understand who you would like photographed and what you have in mind. Our rates and options will be shared with you before booking so you can make an informed decision before committing to a session.

I photograph one guest per day so that each session has the time and attention it needs. If you are creating portraits for a birthday, anniversary, professional milestone or another meaningful date, I recommend getting in touch early enough to allow time for planning, photography and the finished portraits. If you have a particular date in mind, let us know when enquiring and we will advise on availability.
PERSONAL ENQUIRIESLET’S CREATE SOMETHING WORTH KEEPING.
Whether you are considering a portrait for yourself, with someone you love, or with your family, tell us a little about what you have in mind. You don’t need to know exactly what you want yet. We’ll help you understand the experience, answer your questions and decide what feels right for you.
