Sakura Seoul

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA . 2016

Some cities remind us that progress doesn't always mean leaving the past behind.

When I visited Seoul in 2016, I was struck by the way tradition and modern life seemed to exist side by side. Ancient palaces stood within sight of contemporary architecture, while quiet neighbourhood streets gave way to vibrant shopping districts only a few blocks away. As one of Asia's most dynamic capitals, Seoul continues to evolve at an incredible pace, yet it remains deeply connected to its history and cultural heritage.

Walking through the city, I found myself thinking that growth isn't always about replacing what came before. Sometimes it's about building thoughtfully on strong foundations. Perhaps that's why places like Seoul leave such a lasting impression. They remind us that we don't have to choose between where we've been and where we're going. The most meaningful journeys often make room for both.
