Streets of Barcelona

BARCELONA, SPAIN . 2014

Some cities ask us to look more carefully.

When I visited Barcelona in 2014, I found myself slowing down more than usual. From the intricate facades of centuries-old buildings to the organic forms woven throughout the city's architecture, there was a sense that creativity wasn't reserved for galleries or museums. It had become part of everyday life. Much of Barcelona's distinctive character can be traced to the work of Antoni Gaudí, whose designs continue to shape the city's identity more than a century after they were first imagined.

Walking through its streets, I was reminded that creativity isn't always about making something completely new. Sometimes it's about seeing familiar things from a different perspective. Perhaps that's why travel has always inspired me. It encourages us to pay closer attention, to notice details we might otherwise overlook, and to return home seeing even familiar places with fresh eyes.
