The Peaks of Montserrat
MONTSERRAT . CATALONIA . 2014
Sometimes the best way to see our own lives more clearly is to step away from them for a while.
During my visit to Montserrat in 2014, I found myself surrounded by towering rock formations unlike anywhere else I had been. Perched high among the mountains is the Benedictine monastery that has welcomed pilgrims for centuries, many making the journey not only for its history or architecture, but for the opportunity to pause and reflect. There is something about the landscape that naturally encourages you to slow your pace and look a little further.
Travel often changes us in unexpected ways. We leave in search of new places, yet what we often find is a different perspective on the lives we return to. Looking back at these photographs, I'm reminded that some destinations are remembered not because they gave us answers, but because they invited us to ask better questions.
